What personal information do we collect about you?
We only collect and process your information in the following ways:
- Information you give us
- These are the details you share with us when you sign up for our newsletter.
- Information we collect automatically
- We use cookies to understand how you use our site.
- Information we receive from third parties
- We don’t buy or receive any data from third parties.
How do we use your personal information?
We use your personal information to create and send you fresh ideas, thoughts and content about creative communications. This is mainly by email through our newsletters today. But in the future, we may use other media to reach you. We only ever do this when we have your explicit consent. And we only ever use the personal information you’ve given us explicit consent to use.
How long do we keep your personal information?
We don’t have an official ‘expiry date’ on your personal information. If we do remove some of your personal information, it’s in the interest of cleaning up our database to keep track of whether, for instance, your data is no longer valid. We won’t add to or change any of your personal information without getting your consent. And if you want to change what we know about you, you can use our handy preferences page.
Who do we share your personal information with?
We only share your personal information with third-party data processors (like our email service provider) so we can use their technology to understand our wider audience and send you content. GDPR says we need to make sure these third-party data processors also comply with its mandates. What this means is that we only work with companies we trust. We don’t like black hat stuff, we don’t like dodgy vendors and we don’t like not knowing how their tech works.
What happens if you don’t provide us with your personal information? Or what happens when you ask us to stop processing your information?
If you don’t give us your personal information, we won’t have it. If you ever ask us to stop using your personal information or tell us you don’t want to receive information from us any more, then we’ll take you off our list immediately.
Do we make automated decisions concerning you?
If you’re thinking about stuff like automating the ‘Dear [Name]’ field in emails, then yes.
Do we use Cookies to collect personal data on you?
We use cookies to understand how you use our site. See our cookie policy to know more about it.
Do we transfer your personal information outside the EEA?
No.
What are your rights?
By law, you have nine important rights when it comes to your personal information. (To get more details about these rights, talk to the data protection regulator in your country.)
Rights
1. The right to object to processing
You have the right to object to certain types of processing, including processing for direct marketing (for instance, if you don’t want us to send you any more newsletters).
2. The right to be informed
You have the right to be provided with clear, transparent and easily understandable information about how we use your information and your rights. (This is why we’re telling you all this stuff…that is, if you’re still reading.)
3. The right of access
You have the right to access your information (if we’re processing it). This is so you’re aware of what we have and can check that we’re using your information in accordance with data protection law.
4. The right to rectification
You’re entitled to correct your information if it’s inaccurate or incomplete.
5. The right to erasure
This is also known as ‘the right to be forgotten’. What it means is that you can tell us to delete all the personal information we have on you. If you ask us to delete, we’ll do it.
6. The right to restrict processing
You have rights to ‘block’ or suppress further use of your information. When processing is restricted, we can still store your information, but we may not use it any more.
7. The right to data portability
You have rights to obtain and reuse your personal information for your own purposes across different services.
For example, you can move, copy or transfer your information easily between our IT systems and theirs safely and securely, without affecting its usability.
8. The right to lodge a complaint
You have the right to lodge a complaint about the way we handle or process your personal information with your national data protection regulator.
That being said, if you do want to complain about something, you can always come straight to us at: hello@jystcreative.com
9. The right to withdraw consent
If you have given your consent to anything we do with your personal information, you have the right to withdraw your consent at any time. (Although if you do, it doesn’t mean that anything we’ve done with your personal information with your consent before that point was unlawful).
This includes your right to withdraw consent to us using your personal information for marketing purposes. We’ll respond as soon as we can. Generally, this will be within a month from when we receive your request but, if the request is going to take longer to deal with, we’ll come back to you and let you know.
How will we contact you?
